I have seen plenty of elections where an incompetent candidate wins over someone more qualified. Straight ticket voting leads to a lot of wins that would be hard to explain. That's why I adamantly oppose straight ticket ballots. I would love for all elections to be non-partisan. As an aside, a town in NC just tried to do this for local elections. The town council and mayoral races were going to be nonpartisan. The DOJ stepped in and said: Nope; Not going to happen. "Then the republicans made him a parachute candidate against Obama . . ' Yeah.
