I cannot say I truly regret that lack of historic knowledge by the
population at large.

One of the (in my mind) wonderful parts of the United States of America is
the lack of historic baggage (compared to other countries).

We seem to have the same knack as a good NFL quarterback to almost instantly
forgetting the past mistakes, only remembering the good plats.

This tends to make us more likely to repeat those mistakes, but we don't
usually waste too much time worrying about past insults. We instead ask
"what have you done for me lately". England, France. Japan. Russia. Heck, I
don't think most Americans have any problem with Iran that couldn't be
solved with a change in leadership there.

This lets us concentrate our energies on improving ourselves, rather than
worrying about what old enemies are doing. Which has helped make the US such
a success. We may not be bright, but we are usually pleasant.

I have personally broken up a number of shoving matches (and one fist fight)
at my apartment complex when arguments over 900 year old battles IN INDIA
have gotten too heated. Just let it go, for God's sake.

So I would say to all those countries that want to teach us World History,
in our best Lennie voice, "tell about the rabbits, George".
