I think you are all missing the point of the show. It chronicle's the experiences of certain individuals who participated in the war, and these people happen to be Americans. It is not to be taken as a complete history of the war. Just like Band of Brothers is about one particular company in the 101st Airborne. It only shows a piece of the bigger picture. While it is true that in todays high school and college history classes, the past is glossed over simply because there is so much to talk about in such short time, if someone is truly interested in history, they can major in the subject in college, and if they want to get into more specifics, major in Military History as I am. And while we are on the subject, even the books that are out that talk about WWII are lacking. For instance, in my class Writing for History, I did an essay on the battle of Saipan. I bet most on this list have never even heard of Saipan or how significant it was to winning in the Pacific theater. I only found two good detailed books on the battle while conducting my research. Go to any B&N, Borders or browse Amazon and you will mostly find books written about the European theater, not the Pacific. Part of that reason is that the pacific was secondary to the grand scheme of things. Funny how it was the Japanese that attacked and declared war on us first, yet we made Europe a priority.
