Word.

Things will change, obviously, as your kid gets older but at every
age, spend time listening to your partner and your kid and yourself to
see what y'all need. 3 month olds are surprisingly expressive if you
take the time to focus in and listen to them.

Wednesday was my daughter's 3rd birthday, so I took the day off of
work to just hang out. We went by a toy store and told her that she
could pick out one new toy (within limits) for her birthday. She chose
a play tea set, so when we got home, I spent an hour having a tea
party with her and her stuffed dog, Fred. I taught her how to drink
with her pinky finger extended. She thought it was hilarious.

Most weeks, we try and set up date nights. My wife stays home with our
daughter, so we try and arrange a girls night out most Wednesday's
after I get home from work. My wife gets adult time and then my
daughter and I get our date night. Sometimes we'll hang out at home
and watch a movie or something, sometimes we'll head to the pub or
whatever. And then every week or so, my daughter will have a date
night with our best friend Jocie while my wife and I go out and shoot
a couple games of pool or go play skeeball and have a cocktail.

I know it is hard to feel like you are on top of the parenting thing.
You want, so much, to give this little person everything possible in
the world and you are always going to come up short of that ideal in
some way or another. The key is to learn to relax and accept that fact
while still keeping the goal. Relax, enjoy yourself and the time you
have. Do the best you can and when you get frustrated that it isn't
exactly how you'd like, take a deep breathe and remind yourself how
good what you have is.

Cheers,
Judah
