Be prepared to being turned down for life insurance or paying through the
roof.

Same with medical if she is going to be self-insured.

Type 1, aka Juvenile Diabetes, is the inherited form of the disease.
He's in for daily insulin shots and watching his diet. But if he is a
good boy and does not pig out on carbohydrates and|or improperly doses
his insulin, he can live a long and healthy life.

If he is not, untreated or improperly treated diabetes does lead to
kidney failure, blindness and possible loss of feet and|or hands. Basic
high blood sugar acts like an acid and destroys capillary blood vessels.

Modern treatments are always improving, he may be eligable for a
pancreas (the organ that produces natural insulin) transplant which
could be a permanat treatment. But of course that is major surgery with
the obvious risk of organ rejection so is something to take lightly.
