Apparently the control tower informed the pilot that "conditions for
landing do not exist" and that an il76 had waved off twice and decided
not to land.

but the Polish President didn't want to be late for the ceremony. And
it seems he 'ordered' the pilots to attempt the landing.

Very sad :-(

For my part..if a pilot even seems a little bit concerned about
conditions for landing I would say ," Hey buddy...go around...go to
the next airport" whatever.
It just isn't worth it.

I mean if someone tells you,"Hey let's TRY to land..." ...wtf is that?
TRY and succeed or....crash?
Are those the options?
Then no..Let's not TRY to land...let's go to the other airport where
conditions are better.
