Season One of Babylon 5 is the weakest of the 5 seasons, with a few episodes that are duds, but the rest of the series really rocked. Some very powerful commmentary in that series on governments gone out of control.
To me it stands not just as one of the best sci-fi series ever, but one of the best television series, period. The character development was amazing, especially the characters of Londo and G'Kar.
