In NY, surfing beaches don't have life guards so they always know they
have to fend for themselves.
During a hurricane they know there's no room for mistake because by
the time your buddy gets to shore and calls it in you're long dead or
missing.

So we don't give a crap about some pansy rescuer getting his panties in a wad :P

The people on the pier are a different story, didn't a couple get
swept to sea a few weeks ago doing just that?
No cpr was necessary then either.
