I must be strange. The games I play were all old when I last updated my
desktop 4 years ago so my laptop is plenty powerful to run them and I
would still rather be on the desktop. Maybe it's the bigger monitor or
the full sized keyboard or a combination thereof. I know you can get
those things on a laptop but mine doesn't have them.

Then again the desktop was last updated 4 years ago and aside from a new
$30ish video card probably isn't getting updated any time soon. I've
bought 2 laptops in that time.

Since I do some gaming, laptops that are powerful enough are still out
of my
price range, but I do have a midtower with a strap on handle and an HD
LCD
(I just put it in the box it came in and that has a handle), so I am
still
pretty portable and takes not too much longer to set up than it does to
set
up a laptop somewhere.

Win 7 has been great on my new laptop. MSFT appears to have fixed all
the things about Vista that drove me backto XP on my old machine. It's
so good I actually contemplated switching my desktop over the Win 7
from Ubuntu, but I decided to make my desktop a server and just use my
laptop. I am at the point now where I see no reason to have a desktop
computer. My Envy has dedicated graphics, a quad core i7, and maxes
out at 16GB RAM.

Anyone else thinking about the end of the desktop or already gone
through
it?
