I always wonder why people believe that authors and artists of today have an imagination, but artists of the old world did not. If we can imagine flying shapes and planes etc. why couldn't they?
Why does it have to be something they have seen or an event that occurred. Did the Lord of the Rings trilogy ever occur? Have you ever actually seen a flying car in action? No...but we accept that these can be imagined and realised through art. Would a civilisation 10,000 years in the future, looking back to our past and unearthing our writings and our art be correct in concluding that in 1982 we had flying cars simply because they appear in our art? Or we had teleporters or had witnessed teleportation because they watch a few episodes of our Star Trek?
