I was under the impression from something else I read that it's actually extracted from cannabis that the DEA has give certain pharmaceuticals a license to grow for that purpose, but I could be wrong. It was a site I hit on StumbleUpon and didn't bother to bookmark so I have basically no chance of finding it again. I've never cared enough to look into it past "huh, that's interesting".
