I've never worked as a DJ...but it would seem to me that a vital part of
their job would be to swallow their pride, and personal taste in music, and
play whatever the crowd who is paying them wants to hear.

I've heard DJ's who were playing music that *I* personally loved...but the
Pixies aren't necessarily wedding reception music :)
