No food is completely safe. In the past we have had issues with:
cantaloupes, peanuts and spinach (to name just a few).

The CDC just issued a warning (again) on Raw Milk, but they cherry picked
their data. Interesting that they chose the years 1993 - 2006.

In 1985, there was a confirmed outbreak in 1985 of 16,000 confirmed cases
of Salmonella from pasteurized milk from a single dairy with an unknown (to
me) number of deaths

In 2007, 135 people became ill from pastuerized cheese contaminated with e.
coli and 3 people died from pasteurized milk contaminated with listeria.

http://chapters.westonaprice.org/washingtondc/2012/02/cdc-cherry-picks-data-to-make-case-against-raw-milk-2/

In a few months, the cantaloupe listeria outbreak killed 30 people and
affected 146 people.
In a few months, the peanut outbreak killed 8 and affected at least 400
people
In a few months, the spinach outbreak killed 3 and affected at least 199
people.

>From 1998 to 2008 (10 years), raw milk has affected about 187 people and
officially caused 2 deaths.

So if the government finds that raw milk is so dangerous, aren't
cantaloupe, peanuts and spinach even more dangerous? Not to mention
pastuerized milk which is created by cows raised in filthy conditions and
suffering from Mastisis which puts pus in the milk, but who cares? We'll
just pastuerize the milk and it will be clean for people to drink.

I'll stick with my raw milk, from a farmer I trust who lets his cows graze
on grass and handles them humanely thank you.
