The decisions are not being made by the weapons and oil businesses
alone. I'm not even convinced that they are making the decisions at
all. Circling like vultures to take advantage maybe but not actively
pushing.

 A vague 'They' is an overly broad brush to use in any case. I see one
bat ass crazy inflaming this (Ahmadinejad) and I see others who are
trying to find a diplomatic solution. I really don't see anyone saying
"we have to invade Iran" or "we have to go to war".

As an aside, There is more money to be made by drilling in the huge
deposits found in Mediterranean than in Iran. There is more money
selling guns to defend drilling projects there as well.
