Agreed. That's why the way I see out of this mess requires us to use overwhelming force against them. To the point of capitulation.
This won't work as a one nation solution though. Ok, look, I have spent years of my life in Muslim countries. Not just Afghanistan, but places like Egypt, Kuwait, Saudi, Qatar, and various stans. There are distinct cultural differences in many of these countries, but Islam is the one unifying force, the Umma. Islam is not just a religion, but a social and political system as well. It requires total submission of the individual and the will, suspension of logic. It was started by a merchant warlord who also happened to be a pedophile, who advocated the murder, rape and enslavement of anyone who didn't agree with his ideas. I have read of the Qur'an and the Sunnah, and I know what they say. This so called religion of peace has been an evil bloody thorn in our side since before the founding of our nation (Barbary wars?) and will continue to be so until it is stamped out. It is an ideology as evil, or even more so, as that of fascism or communism. You can lie, cheat and steal from the infidel, take them as slaves, sexually assault them, charge them fess to live among you. Free speech and free will are totally alien concepts. I am not a man of strong religious convictions., a true agnostic, I have no idea what if anything is out there. To be honest I don't understand anyone, no matter the religion, that claims to have knowledge of the "true faith". Yet I see in Islam something worse then simple religion. Maybe there can be a reformation, like with Christianity. I have my doubts where that is concerned though. The minority of "moderate muslims", and I do know some, refuse to take a stand against their brothers in most cases, because they know that the extremists are correct in their readings, and that their actions are blessed by the religious establishments, and called for by their guiding books. Islam (the word in Arabic) means submission. It's teachings and principles follow from that starting pioint. It is more complex even, hell I know it ends the argument, but many of the current crop of issues we have can even be tied directly to the Nazi's, the Baath parties were founded by men that modeled them directly on the NSDAP and they were supported politically and financially by the Nazis. The "Palestinian Issue" was further inflamed by the Nazis (not to mention that no such country of Palestine ever existed but thats another argument). I don't see many things as EVIL™, but in Islam I find the label fitting.
