Many place...they don't have the sound systems and stages as those require a
permit. The food has been donated by participants as well as local

"They need warm bodies, and aren't particularly careful about who they are
or how well aligned their beliefs are."

They also need money and logistical support. Someone has to feed the
crowds, provide the sound systems and stages, pay for literature and print
it, and so on. With the occupy crowd, it would seem that these things are
even more important since the the occupiers say they don't have money or
jobs.

That's the crack to get into the movement. Once in, the manipulation
begins.
