The Republicans wanted boots on the ground in Libya. They want to attack Iran. I know you don't agree with me but I still flat out say that the Ashcroft and Gonzalez DOJ's were even worse (and that is saying something). The Republican-controlled House pushed the NDAA. And on and on and on.
Basically, on personal liberties and international policy, the Republicans are as bad or worse than the Democrats. If they weren't, I'd have to give them a really strong look. Hell, if you gave me a pro-choice, pro-gay marriage Republican who vowed to end warrantless wiretapping, I'd probably vote for them in a heart beat even if I disagreed with their economic policies. Right now, I've got social issues and economics as the primary distinguishing features and so I hold my nose while I vote for the candidate who I think will do the best job even though there are huge parts of their platform that I completely disagree with. I mean, jesus, I just voted tonight and I had to vote for a mayoral candidate who got his drivers license suspended 7 times, his law license 3 times, and once hit a woman and bloodied her nose at a college party. And it disgusts me. But I do it because I think he would do a better job than the other guy who is running.
