Javascript - The Good Parts by Douglas Crockford.  Does a great job
explaining what awesome bits of js to use and how...and what bits to
absolutely avoid because they are nightmares.

I'd also recommend Head First Design Patterns. Not about any particular
programming bit, but rather about development patterns. Helps thinking
about how to tackle problems.
