I cannot answer that question, but my mom seemed to be able to find work when
she was a single parent with no HS diploma or even a GED. Over time she went
from being a welfare recipient to working as an account manager for Loma Linda,
company car, expense account and all the other perks of having a job where you
are on the road a lot.

And if you are a good waitress/waiter, you can make some pretty good money on
tips alone. That is how my mom supported us when she was off welfare. And she
managed to go to college as well. She did get some grants and loans, but she
also paid out of pocket for some schooling as well. I think that it's all a
matter of motivation. I believe that some people are just not motivated to
better themselves, accepting their lot in life. Believing that because they
were raised poor that is how it is. I don't know for sure obviously but it
makes sense. The entitlement train is running full steam and there seems to be
no end in site for it to stop or even slow down.

Regarding healthcare, there is help out there. My daughter does not have
medical benefits for my grandson. She has benefits because she is a full time
college student and therefore qualifies for benefits via the Army, but that is
only until next year when she is 23. After that she is on her own, but then
she'll be finished with school and hopefully has a good paying job with
benefits. My grandson gets Medicare though so he is taken care of. If my
daughter had a job with benefits, she would put my brandon on those benefits
and not rely on the state. And in case anyone thinks I am being a hypocrite
because my daughter gets food stamps and my grandson gets medical treatment via
the system, I would arguer that I am not. My daughter is an example of someone
who should be receiving some assistance. She is going to school to have a
better life for her and my grandson. She is doing her best to help herself, but
because her housing allowance is only about $1,000.00 a month she can't do it
all on her own. I would not think less of anyone else that I know who is in a
similar situation. Show me that you are doing your best to make a better life
for yourself and your family if you have one, and I have no issues working to
pay for your benefits. Sit on your ass and abuse the system though, and I have
a problem with that.
