Can there be a country surrounded by other countries? Can there be a
country that is demilitarized? Is this an issue of security that has been
known and discussed for years and years?
The writer of the Huffington post is just that, a writer of a Huffington
post and it's his opinion that you can't have a state with Israel
controlling the Jordan Valley. He's not a statesman. He's not part of the
negotiations. He's literally a nobody putting his two cents in, which is
worth just that.

Israel is negotiating with a single goal in mind - security. They're not
going to do anything that will endanger themselves and giving up the Jordan
Valley is a major danger. Abbas offered a 10 year 'lease' of the area and
if there was a way to tie it to security performance on the part of the
Palestinians then maybe we would be closer to a solution. But like the
writer of the article, I'm not a statesman and all I'm doing is second
guessing those that are.
