there was an extensive thread a few months ago on the 
list about the different kinds of connections between 
DVD and TV, and the relative quality of each. might 
search the archive.

bottom line: highest quality is "component video" which 
uses 3 cables for video (plus 2 for audio, of course).

most decent-quality new tv's have component video jacks. 
if your tv doesn't, next best is S-Video, quite a bit 
lower is composite video.

Note that "component" and "composite" sound similar but 
are very very different in quality. (Composite video is 
one jack usually color-coded yellow.)
