Hiya gang

Candace, you said:
"BTW, Where's Ben Braver been lately??? "

I'm touched that you asked !!
:-)

<so should I say to my wife "hey honey, this cute lady
on the cf list touched me? ;-) >

Was on vacation in Las Vegas from Wed. through Sun.,
then came back to a pile of work and couple of crises.

BTW set up an additional e-mail address for the list -
[EMAIL PROTECTED]

Still have [EMAIL PROTECTED] as the pure "personal"
email.

Da kid here had a BLAST in LV - didn't spend one cent in
the casinos, but dropped a TON of money on restaurants
and entertainment.

Restaurants - all totally yummy - included:
- Picasso at Bellagio (most $$$$ I ever spent on one
meal, awesome, but not big portions. Wife called it half-
jokingly the most expensive snack we ever had <ha>.)
- Samba at Mirage (the Brazilian rodizio "cycle"
rotisserie where they bring 9 different meats/fishes to
your table and carve them onto your plate)
- buffet at Paris Las Vegas (different stations for each
province of France, plus Les Jardins and the desserts)
- Coyote Cafe at MGM Grand (Santa Fe cuisine)

Saw Blue Man Group, Hoover Dam, and the Thunderbirds
airshow at Nellis.

And let us not forget the Star Trek Experience at the LV
Hilton.

Amazing "History of the Future" museum. Huge collection
of props/costumes. Plus timeline of history from
Einstein through Voyager. Spent a couple of hours there.

Super ride (motion simulator like "Star Tours" at
Disney) and "theater" (crew members playing roles). You
get pulled through a time rift, beamed onto the
Enterprise (NextGen version), go down a turbolift and
through corridor to shuttle bay. On shuttle mission you
get in middle of battle between Enterprise and Klingons.
End up going back through wormhole, emerge at south end
of Las Vegas Strip, weaving around casino/hotels at
night while being shot at. Awesome. Wife had to close
eyes part of the time <puny human>.

Have photo of me sitting in Captain's chair on bridge.
Also cool photo of me as part of ST:TOS crew.

Ah, then the DS9 Promenade shops, spent way too much.
Got a Star Fleet Academy t-shirt and a blue Sciences
tunic like Spock's. (Long-sleeve t-shirt with insignia.)

Quark's Restaurant and Bar. I vaguely remember drinking
the "mini" version of something called a Warp Core
Breach, served (foaming) in a bowl on a metal stand,
containing 5 different kinds of rum. Menu said it had 5
ounces of alcohol. Felt like I had been hit by phaser on
heavy stun. (not-mini version for 2 has 11 ounces!)

Tried to pick a fight with a Klingon <g> - he made a
comment about the Enterprise being towed away as garbage
(line from "Trouble with Tribbles"), I said "You call
yourself a warrior? HA! I know what you fear - fabric
softener, Kling Free!!" He snarled "You dare to mention
it?"

A Ferengi asked my wife how much for her wedding ring.
She replied it was priceless, not for sale. Ferengi
replied that only worthless things were priceless,
everything else had a price. I said "including your
mother?" He said "Of course!"

Borg wanted to know why we were consuming food and
beverage. Said after we were assimilated we would just
need regeneration. I said "who do you think you are,
Microsoft?" Actually got a smile <g>.

Tried to come back to work to rest, but that was not to
be <g>. Gradually returning to some semblance of normal.

-Ben
