The police will throw you in jail at the first scent of civil disobedience - it's just not worth it. They won't even question, you will go to jail. There was a protest in Chicago a few weeks ago because TABD (Trans Atlantic Business Dialogue) was in town doing their dealings. There were more police in riot gear than there were protesters.
In addition to that, the police now record your face and keep it on record. Even if I disagree with something very strongly, to me it's just not worth being pulled into a room at the airport to have rubber gloves shoved up my butt. Further, the media does a really great job at making the protests seem like the "cheezy" thing to do these days. It's just like... so not Gap commercial. They'd rather you just go back to your Taco Bell and shut up. You only have to hang around for their commercials to wonder why they would want to do that. So yeah, protests are lame these days. Basically you all should just shut up, like what you have, and if you have anything to say against it, you're only bringing everyone else down. Seems to be the general consensus.
