I can agree with all of this,

The only problem I with the string of responses is the rather high
occurrence of the emails that basically insulted the guy. Alert him of
his folly, tell him the proper "procedure" etc, but no need for name
calling or the equivalent of net-yelling.

Well, there is still such a thing as being rude. The link was the
equivalent
of the bucket of water on the door prank. It's funny for the prankster,
but
not for the person wearing their nice suit.

Agreed. However, even in a relaxed workplace there are still social
mores of
acceptable behavior. I think that the people on the list are both
responsible for what they read AND what they send.
