I've been thinking of giving it a try.  I thought there would be more to it
than that, but it sounds pretty straight forward.

That seems to be a huge amount of ingredients, is there some specialized
equipment needed to boil, or do you do it a bit at a time in a large pot?

Also, what do you mean by "yeast that was started 6 hours earlier..."?  What
prep does the yeast require?

What does a basic brewing kit run?  Do you have a brand you would recommend?

i am so board now, i could do anything, considered work.


made my 2nd batch yesterday.

5 gallons steam distilled water.
10 pounds of honey, 
8 pounds of medium light malt
a bit of clove, cinnamon & ginger.
boiled for 2 hours, added yeast that was started 6 hours earlier...

let ferment for 4-7 days.
