I was a year younger than the other kids in my grade - and incredibly gullible.
My friend Kevin, "If you grab the tail of the bull, he can't move as long as you hold on". He was wrong. But in our groups of friends, if the stunt wasn't directly and obviously life threatening, there was no question you at least had to _try_.
