Sorry to hear that, Larry.

It sounds like blood sugar levels are a very serious threat to those little cuties.

Is there a home blood sugar level test that you can use? I know they are pretty
standard now for humans.

Hope they all make it home safe tonight,

Jerry Johnson

Hi Guys,

Wendy and I had a very nasty start this morning. We were woken up this
morning about 5:30 AM - Ryoga (our oldest ferret - about 7 years old) was
having a seizure. We had to drive to the nearest emergency vet in
Springfield, VA, about 30 miles from home - we made it there in about half
an hour, right at the start of rush hour. They measured his blood glucose
levels at 30 mg/ml, normal is around 100 or so. Fortunately after getting
IV fluids and dextrose, he was doing a lot better. We stayed there for
about an hour or so, until he was stabilized and took him to his regular
vet at Eastern Exotics/Pender Vet Center. So here I am at work with the
other 3 ferrets waiting to hear back from the vet. This morning sucks to
say the least.
