Thanks Jerry, Ryoga has a condition called insulinoma. Its sort of like the opposite of diabetes, there are small tumorous nodes on the insulin producing cells of the pancreas. The result is that these cells end up making too much insulin. He is old for a ferret, and was only being medically treated, he is not a good candidate for surgery. We fed him normally last night, and while he looked a bit spaced when we put him away, there was no indication that this would happen.
As for blood glucose testing kits, yes there are those available on the market, but I do not know how accurate they are for ferrets, as they have been designed for people.
