Definately. We have no respect for those who pull themselves up out of
unfortunate circumstances. Insert something here about going back under the
rock you came out from. Etc, etc, etc.

Seriously, though, I don't think I'd consider someone who grew up in a poor
urban environment one of my peers. At the same time, I don't really think
of rich suburbanites as my peers, either. I grew up the son of a college
professor in rural TN/KY, and poor college students are my crowd.
Intellectuals of all strains, wierdos, and geeks are my peers. But that
doesn't fit the legal definition very well, does it?

: Jeez, I am all of those (well not a ghetto exactly, but not well

: I'm proud to serve too, but when I got called I was basically

: My problem is: I feel that often juries determine innocence or guilt based
: on their biases, whether they like the people on trial, racial issues. Not
: fairly, based on the evidence at hand. I don't want to wrongly convict a
: person. I also don't feel that someone who grew up in a ghetto, who comes
: from a broken home, or who has never gotten a higher education is my peer.
