For historical reasons, good muffins are tokens of esteem or friendship.
Bad muffins are mild punishments. Stale muffins (often thrown) are mild
chastisements. Cast iron muffin pans wielded as bludgeons are tools of the
oppressor. :-)
I'll let someone who was here for the start of it fill in more of the
history.
