Actually, you're wrong, the establishment cannot deal with the issue themselves. If they could, then we would not need health and cleanliness laws. Business dictates that you make your facilities open to the greatest number of people - meaning smokers + non-smokers. Denying smoke means that you're closing off your business to smokers if there is another place to go. Hence, they are in contradiction.
By disallowing smoke, the government is forcing people who want to smoke to go to a non-smoking restaurant, meaning that free enterprise is protected and people are not subjected to filthy, nasty, cancer causing smoke, Matthew Small IT Director Showstopper American Dance Championships [EMAIL PROTECTED] 843-357-1847 -----Original Message----- From: Jim Davis [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Tuesday, July 01, 2003 12:53 PM To: CF-Community Subject: RE: woo hoo I would still argue however that if a business owner WANTS to cater to that minority they should be allowed to. People should be lobbying establishments to change practices, not the government. The free market is perfectly capable of dealing with this issue all by its lonesome.
