I have to agree. I have found myself torn on this issue many times. Maybe what we really need is a better definition of what exactly fair use entails. I think that for education purposes it makes sense to have the copyright expire, however when talking about business, I would hate to see my children not inherit anything that I worked to create.
I like the idea that using parts of the material for parody and satire is permitted, but then what about weird al? Not everyone would want to see their creation used in such a way. I guess as an individualist I would have to come down on the side of the author/artist/creator. I think William Bowen made the point, and I've already stated my opinions on this before. I don't think it's crazy to allow people who WANT to share their works to do so, and those who DON'T want to share can be greedy. If Disney kept Mickey from now till the sun stops shining, I wouldn't give a damn. I'd _like_ it if they would share, but why should I force them? I understand that the founding fathers had different ideas. Lord forbid I disagree with them. ;) ======================================================================== === Raymond Camden, ColdFusion Jedi Master for Mindseye, Inc (www.mindseye.com) Member of Team Macromedia (http://www.macromedia.com/go/teammacromedia) Email : [EMAIL PROTECTED] Blog : www.camdenfamily.com/morpheus/blog Yahoo IM : morpheus "My ally is the Force, and a powerful ally it is." - Yoda > -----Original Message----- > From: Angel Stewart [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Sent: Monday, July 07, 2003 2:05 PM > To: CF-Community > Subject: RE: all slashbots are idiots. > > > I want access to the original Mickey Mouse pictures that > should be in free domain.
