MikeyD-
I was right, you did almost twice as many hours in shul as I did. I fasted and contemplated my navel the whole time (about 27 hours), but not all at synagogue. Evening 1st service was 5:15pm for 2.5 hrs, I started fasting when I left home at 4. Morning 1st service 8:15 for 3 hours. Afternoon 4:15pm for 2.5 hrs - so 8 hrs all told. My problem wasn't the standing, it was the strain on the hip from standing/sitting repeatedly. At home mid-morning, I saw myself on the cable tv - they videotape the 1st service, then take the tape to the cable public service channel. I was part of a group aliyah and saw myself watching the torah reading :-)

L'Shana Tovah.
