One person was killed in the Loudendale area of Kanawha County driving around a fire truck blocking a road and into a swift-moving, overflowing Davis Creek, which swept away the car, said Bill White, Kanawha County Emergency Services director.

In the dark, emergency officials did not see what happened to the car and so could not attempt a rescue, White said. When waters receded early Thursday, the vehicle was located. Rescuers could see a body inside, but still could not reach the vehicle, White said. He did not know if the victim was a man or a woman.
