One place that I used to go to a lot was rpmfind (http://www.rpmfind.net). They have a search tool where you can enter the dependency file and it will point you to the rpm (grouped by disto) where you can find it. Pretty helpful. I also found www.justlinux.com helpful. Google "linux newbie" and you will find a plethora of helpful sites...
