Hi Tim,

Yes, ferrets can and should be litter trained. All of ours use the
litter box inside the cage and the boxes we have outside the cage
when they wander free. We do restrict them somewhat where they can go
in the house. You do have to be careful though, they can get into a
lot of trouble. If it helps, here's some links that will be helpful:

http://www.ferretcentral.org Probably the best place to start for all
ferret owners;
http://www.alexandriaanimalhospital.com/ If I remember right you live
in Alexandria. The Alexandria Animal Hospital does have some
specialists in exotics. If not  Stahl Exotic Animal Health Services
(http://www.seavs.com) specializes in exotics care. One of the vets
on staff, David Crum, is also a ferret owner.
