That happened because of a theological movement called Liberation
Theology. Given the conditions that many people live in South
America, and that those priest who were involved were at the very
least men of conscious, is there any wonder they would be involved in
the only available alternative? If there had been a viable moderate
alternative many of the radical leftist priests would have most
likely supported that alternative.
