Yes I've seen some of them. I had read accusations about it before the
pictures were leaked. Just that Iraqis were upset with the occupation and
unspecified abuses by the US and wondering if life was actually better than
under Saddam. But seeing the pictures is truly horrible because it fully
gives credence to and reinforces their fears. I am not surprised at all at
seeing them though. I've got plenty of stories that I won't share on public
mailing list.

Whether the Iraqis are actually better off now with Saddam gone or not is
moot. The mere fact that they are asking the question leaves the US in a
very untenable position.

I am glad that the military leaders are publicly decrying the acts. But in
my experience, the mindset that allowed this to happen is pervasive
throughout our military.
