No, PHP is natively linux, and the higher-ups have decided directly
toward windows.

Also, PHP isn't too often found on the enterprise level, therefore not
where we want to go.

Also, PHP is a parsed scripting language (like CF5) while ASP.NET
creates compiled code (like CFMX).

Also, ASP.NET 2.0's goals are to cut coding down by 70%, which may get
it closer to CF's level.

Also, PHP (and CF) rely mainly on a big bunch of functions (and/or
tags), loosely grouped into categories, while Java and .NET are
fully-featured object-oriented languages that rely on built in
structured libraries.

Also, we have settled (for good) on SQL Server, therefore ADO.NET would
be ideal for connecting to it.

As for CFMX vs ASP.NET, I think it basically boils down to licensing
fees. It's free to run ASP.NET on a server (aside from the OS license,
of which, as i stated before, we have standardized on windows). Add
$1300 for CF standard (3x the amount we're paying for win 2k3 web ed.),
or $6000 for enterprise, suddenly we're shelling out a fortune to
Macromedia.

Yes, I know the development costs are an issue as well, but there are
some other issues in play that i'm not going to talk about in this email.
