Are you sure you want to employ someone or do you need to engage the services of a contractor? Employing someone is a potentially very cumbersome and onerous process. Just reading through the advice there can be enough to turn you completely off the whole idea! I ask the question because I think you'll struggle to get an experienced developer (say 3-4 years of CF) to take on a part time telecommute role as a permie, but you'd have much more luck if you were looking to hire a contractor. 1. What sort of wage would a telecommuter expect if they had an above > average level experience with CF MX. For an experienced developer (3-4 years of CF) I'd expect to pay contractor rates of at least GBP 20/hour or permie rates of GBP 30,000/year for full timers. 2. What recommendations do you have so that the developers do the work > timely, correctly and of the standard required. Communication! In short you decide on correctness, the schedule and the required standards, so it's up to you to commicate them. Oh and read Steve McConnell's Rapid Development! 3. It depends - how hard is it going to be to secure your sensitive information! A standard non-disclousre agreement should be sufficient to cover you (although I'm not a lawyer)! 4.
