As someone looking for an employee right now, I would just like to comment. I'm looking for an on-site developer and have had 4 people ask about telecommuting. However, with the industry I work in (logistics), everything changes at a moments notice. I can switch directions on a project at the drop of a dime. Therefore I need someone face-to-face ... for now that is. I'm totally cool with an ESTABLISHED employee telecommuting, becase they KNOW the work/system/client. Simply put, a new employee has a lot to wrap their head around in this industry. Because of that, I need someone on-site .... for now + 3-6 months until I feel they have proven themselves. I hope that makes sense.
