In any case, I think Beau is doing a service to the ColdFusion community
because he focuses alot on ColdFusion jobs and placing ColdFusion developers,
so I have no problem with him sharing his contact information and what he does
regularly on this list.  Alot of developers know that if they want to find a CF
position and they want someone to 'market' them on their behalf, that they can
go to Beau because he is always posting CF jobs on this list.

And for the record, I am both a CF developer (9+ years) AND a competitor of
Beau's as I recently started my own staffing company, but I do not specialize
in CF like Beau does.

I think we should probably move this discussion to cf-jobs-talk or Mr. Dinowtiz
is going to bring down his heavy hand. ;-)

Michael (and list members),

I'm not going to lie to you. That's exactly what I was doing, but in my
defense if I may, I "pimp and whore" the list once every few months
normally. There just happened to be 1-2 extra posts this month I
couldn't refuse replying to the list with my pitch. My job is to find
great candidates for my clients, but I also try my best to place great
candidates with prospective clients.

So as I was saying to John, I will refrain from doing so (more often
than once every few months).

Thank you,
Beau J. Gould

I'm guessing the purpose was two fold. The first was to engage Robi in
a staffing capacity (Robi asked in his posting not to have recruiters
inquire by the way) but the reason for posting it to the list was an
excuse to advertise to the masses about his staffing/ recruiting
services. Obviously he does this allot. I'm not sure if that's in the
spirit of this list which I understand to be offering actual jobs, not
staffing services.

This is all speculation on my part. Incidentally AboutWeb is also
looking for Flex developers with Java and CF experience:)

Shouldn't replies to job posts be directly to the sender unless
specified
otherwise in the senders' post? Especially in cases like this where the
reply can possibly be considered spam to a large group?

And what exactly are the ethics within getting a private reply (unless I

just missed the list reply from Aodhan) and then replying publicly,
seemingly to make the criticizer look bad? He may not have had the most
tact, but it was a privately emailed request.

I can understand posting the "I have people available". I can understand

posting "I have jobs available". But I do see where Aodhan was coming
from
with his private reply about pseudo-consistently making public job offer

replies in this manner.

Just wondering aloud,
George
