You need to install the compat-libstdc++-33 package. This is the latest one as 
of today:

compat-libstdc++-33-3.2.3-47.3.i386.rpm

Install that and all will be fine. The issue is jikes is looking for 
libstdc++.so.5, but libstdc++.so.6 is installed.
