Hi Paul, Thanks for getting back to me. Yes, I thought that something strange was going on. I tried to un-install through "my computer-add remove programs" but it would not un-install CF 8. I also tried to drag the folder c:/ ColdFuson8 to the trash, but there also seems to be some permission problems too.I do have admin rights to the computer.
I am happy to say that I was finally able to get CF installed. I re installed over the last one. I am not sure if everything installed properly, but I am able to view the cf admin now, and was able to set up a verity collection. therefore I am convinced the cf is working. After playing with this for a while I am just happy to have a local version of CF 8 running at school. I don't know anything about IIS or windows either, and so I will just use the build in webserver here at school. Thanks for the info about the firewall. It will just serve as a place to write & test files before uploading to the host. Thanks again for your help, John ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Adobe® ColdFusion® 8 software 8 is the most important and dramatic release to date Get the Free Trial http://ad.doubleclick.net/clk;203748912;27390454;j Archive: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/CF-Newbie/message.cfm/messageid:3924 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/CF-Newbie/subscribe.cfm Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=11502.10531.15
