I also have just set up this configuration for the first time and once I set
up a login on the SQL Server and used the web server's ODBC control panel
instead of the CF admin area, everything went smoothly. This took me a while
to figure out so you may need to stock up on patience :)

Subject: Setting Up a MS SQL Datasource

I'm setting up a Microsoft SQL7 server running on a separate server from
my IIS/CF server. This is the first time I've set up MS SQL and the
ODBC datasources.

So far, I've attempted to set up the datasource on the IIS/CF server
(from CF's Administrator) without much luck. Questions:

Under 'Server' in the ODBC configuration, do I just specify the IP
address of the SQL server? From the hierarchy in the SQL MMC, I gather
that it may be a trifle more complex than this.

If I have no security set up (yet) on the database, is it necessary to
specify a 'Username'?

Anything else I should know?

Thanks,
Jim
