Actually, the ColdFusion 4.x installation rolled back the MDAC to an earlier version with memory leak problems that could affect ColdFusion. He'll want to make sure he updates both the MDAC and the Jet Engine drivers as the MDAC version that ColdFusion roles back to bundled both: In the new MDACs, these are separate downloads. The MDAC checker may or may not verify the Jet Engine drivers: I'm not sure. Benjamin S.
