Personally, I haven't had any issues installing CFMX on Windows XP,
Win2k, SuSE 9, SuSE 9.2, and Mac OSX 10.3.8.

OK, correction... I've had some issues but none of them were either
insurmountable or even terribly difficult. Apparently, I'm living a
charmed life. ;)

Then again, I haven't tackled Win2k3.

But, for all my experience installing, breaking, reinstalling,
rebreaking, and in general being as abusive to CFMX 6.1 and 7 on all
of the above OS platforms I would prefer Linux/UNIX, because of the
improved stability, because (quite honestly) it IS easier to
use/support, and because of all the extraneous crap that MS decided
for us that we need...

Then again, I've gone on record in several venues with my intention to
live a Microsoft-free lifestyle. ;)

Laterz,
J
