Perhaps CF's market share has increased, but not as much as PHP's share. I believe ASP and ASP.NET (which is still fairly new) are two different beasts so I believe Microsoft's market has been segmented, thus making CF's market share larger as I'm sure many ASP shops have jumped to ASP.NET.
I'm curious to know how different companies are upgrading or switching technologies... For example, in traditional ASP shops, how many switch to ASP.NET/PHP/CF? Do PHP shops switch to ASP.NET/CF? And how many CF shops are switching to ASP.NET/PHP? I'd guess that the market share for these main languages goes in the following order... ASP(declining), PHP(increasing), CF(steady), ASP.NET(increasing). Am I off on this or is there a general agreement? Isn't there a general surge in government jobs and spending? Is the percentage increase in CF jobs comparable to the percentage increase in Java jobs? .NET jobs? Again, CF growth needs to be equal to that of the rest of the market for its share to even remain the same. -Matt On Thursday, August 28, 2003, at 03:50 PM, Adam Wayne Lehman wrote: > Anyone who lives in the DC area can vouch for the surge in gov. jobs > for > CF developers.
