Just to be 100% clear. DW API never used document.write(), they use the DOM
since the very beginning, dating back to 1998. Pretty much before any
browser start supporting it

One of the engineers behind DW API at that time was part of W3C DOM working
group (another one was on the CSS group). His name is Joe Marini and, more
recently, he wrote one of the very few books that cover the topic:
