Weird coincidence but we just ran into this exact problem with an Oracle
cluster. One of the cluster members experienced hardware problems and it
failed over to another cluster member...and CFMX DB connections hung.

Unfortunately, I don't know that much about SQL Server clustering.
According

connections:
